Aug 2 - Day 39

Ned and Jerry rode 83 miles from Pontiac, IL to Rensselaer, IN, avg 16.6 mph, new total 2538. Weather was hot and humid with very little wind. Route passed through flat agricultural areas on narrow country roads. Crops of corn and soy beans in the area show a definite need for rain. They also rode by a huge landfill with stinking trucks coming from the big cities. Ned thought he was suddenly back in Newburg. Ladies checked out Pontiac, a town of 11,800. It has a lot of history relating to Abraham Lincoln. Also was a major stop for travelers on old Route 66. Both bikers are looking like beanpoles, even Jerry's sandals no longer fit. He has told us that he has worn the hair off his backside.

  2. It was not a phone book and definitely not a dog. It was a newspaper in your 3 ft. high weeds. I don't have x-ray vision you know....ok maybe the weeds were 1 ft. high. Jerry we miss you so much we don't even know what we are saying. The rest Mitch said is true...he has been a lifesaver....in fact, I think he is going to start avoiding the garage so I don't have to bother him with my broken stuff. LOL I might have to sell the Lefty to get a new tractor though. Just Kidding! We are tenting in the back yard and I have to go tend the fire so I don't burn down the house. Can't wait to see you. Love you all! Just keep pedaling!!!!
