Aug 8 - Day 45
Ned & Jerry began the day's ride at 6:30 to get out of town before heavy traffic began and to beat the heat. They rode 71 miles from Mt. Vernon, OH to Uhrichsville, OH, avg 15.6 mph, new total 2915. They stopped to talk to firemen in Port Washington who were interested in what bikers were doing. Firemen noticed rear tires on both bikes had skin peeling off. They arrived in Uhrichsville around lunch, travelers had meal together, then they replaced both tires. Jerry talked with an Ohio state policeman about safe routes for Monday's ride toward Pittsburgh. They were riding in a construction zone on left side of barriers on freshly paved road, just sailing along when they saw policeman. Their plan is to ride to West Newton, PA, to pick up bike trail on Allegheny passage, then C&O canal to end in Washington, D.C. Jerry is due to return to work in Monday, Aug 16.

ReplyDeleteSee you all soon (if Mitch mows his weeds so I can see....just kidding). Kevin wants a battle too, but he is taking it out on the car...just kidding there also. He knows better than to fight with me. Mitch fixed the mower...again (not kidding), but a little more push mowing does a body good. The tractor just couln't handle my nursing books. I thought they would make great compost for the ground. I just thought the blades would cut more than grass! Ok, that is not true either. Jerry, you just don't know what your are going to come home to. The girls and I still live in the same house though. Love you all.
ReplyDeletethe only reason she still lives there is there are too many realtors to pick from and she couldn't make up her mind
ReplyDeleteI seen you toured a plant with presses in them, sounds like the Pike Plant, where you two would just walk around looking at the presses. Gary H. told us about your Blob, and been reading it all summer in the air condition. Take it easy on the boy Ned.. Best of Luck and be Safe. (Owl Lane)
ReplyDeleteIt is my perogative to change my mind! I wouldn't sell it, but I might spruce up the place! Just keep pedaling guys and we will see you all soon. Love you!
